From the Greatest

Song about me

Clay comes out to meet Liston
And Liston starts to retreat
If Liston goes back any further
He'll end up in a ringside seat.
Clay swings with a left,
Clay swings with a right,
Look at young Cassius
Carry the fight.
Liston keeps backing
But there's not enough room
It's a matter of time.
There, Clay lowers the boom.
Now Clay swings with a right,
What a beautiful swing,
And the punch raises the bear,
Clear out of the ring.
Liston is still rising
And the ref wears a frown,
For he can't start counting,
Till Sonny comes down.
Now Liston disappears from view.
The crowd is getting frantic,
But our radar stations have picked him up.
He's somewhere over the Atlantic.
Who would have thought
When they came to the fight
That they'd witness the launching
Of a human satellite?
Yes, the crowd did not dream
When they laid down their money
That they would see
A total eclipse of the Sonny!
I am the greatest!

A Little Trip to Harajuku Part 3 (Feb. 2, 2008)

Continuing our little Tokyo trip, our next stop was Yasukuni Shrine. A war memorial dedicated mostly to Japanese soldiers during World War II.

At the entrance to the shrine from Kudanshita Station exit, you see O-torii. This is one of the largest torii I have seen made from steel instead of the normal wood.
From the gate, we next see this statue of Omura Masujiro. Yasukuni Shrine was actually established during the Meiji period (1869) way before WWII. Omura Masujiro was considered the father of the modern japanese army during that period.
There is a long walk towards the main shrine itself. We next come upon the gatehouse called the Shinmon .
And after that would be the main prayer hall.
After spending a few minutes around the main hall, we decided to go towards the back of the shrine looking for some warm place to stay. The photo above is the back of the shrine with a lot of large trees around it. Unfortunately, they are not in bloom right now so I'm not sure what kind they are.At the back is a nice little japanese garden (Shinchi Teien). It was really a pretty nice garden encircling a pond with a lot of kois. I took a lot of photos of the garden all around the pond.

Finally we decided to be on our way to our next stop. But before leaving, one last snapshot of the shrine.=)

We returned to the station and I went to see if the fishing village we saw earlier was still busy.=P

And finally our last stop from a half day's worth of sightseeing. I couldn't leave without getting a good night shot of Tokyo Tower.

A Little Trip to Harajuku Part 2 (Feb.2, 2008)

Outside of Meiji Temple, there was a lot of activity! We spotted some interesting people like the goth kids above hanging around on Jingu Bashi...
And WOW! a real life Tikbalang supporting Taiwan! Though I'm left wondering how horses relate to Taiwan? (Thanks to my friend's S5IS btw for this shot!)
Further down the road (Omotesando) and looking for a place to have lunch, we spotted this interesting shop though I doubt they serve any burgers.=)
After having lunch at the nearest Wendy's, we boarded the train from Yoyogi Station...
And disembarked at a small fishing village (Ichigaya Station)! =P From here, we transferred to the Tokyo Subway to get to Kudanshita Station and our next stop...Yasukuni Shrine!

A Little Trip To Harajuku Part 1 (Feb.2, 2008)

The entrance to Meiji Temple in Harajuku Tokyo. It was around 1 pm on a (very) cold and cloudy afternoon but there were still so many visitors....
...like these two. I wonder who they are and why are they posing?
I'm not sure what this is actually. I think its a great wall of sake storage drums.
The entrance to the temple itself
The temple. I realized I don't have close up pictures of the temple!
There was a wedding ceremony while we were there. Unfortunately, I missed the bride. hehehe...
Cute ba? =P
